Storm Season in Fort Worth, TX

6/14/2019 (Permalink)

It seems as though storm season has passed now that we are in mid-June. But as the ground dries up under the 100-degree weather we are most likely staring down, we’ve got to remember that there is still the chance of summer afternoon rains, and the detriment that can come with them.

Take for example this last Sunday, when a random microburst tore through DFW. It knocked out power to residence in Dallas county for several days. It downed power lines and trees, and even knocked over a huge crane in downtown Dallas an killed one person and injured several more.

That’s why it’s important to always be storm ready here in DFW. Where severe weather can strike at any time and be incredibly dangerous. It’s a good idea to keep your house weather proofed as well. Take some time in the downtime during the beginning of spring and fall to make sure your home is prepped for spring weather. Check shingles, trim back trees, check window and door seals. It’d be a good idea to make sure your electronics are plugged into surge protectors too.
